Al of these are good points. As a veteran of dozens and dozens of campaigns, I want to mention one point that everyone is missing is that Republicans build their local bench. Democrats ignore local politics. Today's County Legislator becomes tomorrow's State Legislator who then becomes the Representative in Congress. The majority of State Houses are Republican because the G.O.P. cares about local elections. Republicans fill local seats which Democrats are too busy with Washington to care.
